The milestone positions TerraSense to compete across the full uncrewed systems lifecycle, from early experimentation to operational integration.

TerraSense Analytics is starting the fall on a strong note, officially qualifying for all five streams of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative (DDI) Marketplace.

Led collaboratively by the Department of National Defence and the Defence Investment Agency, the DDI creates a faster pathway for Canadian uncrewed and autonomous technologies to move from development into testing and potential operational use.

The Marketplace includes five supplier streams:

  1. Uncrewed and Counter-Uncrewed Systems: Complete systems, components and supporting services.

  2. Digital Enablers: Communications, computing, cyber, command and control, and data systems.

  3. Systems Integration: Engineering, software integration, interoperability and platform integration.

  4. Testing, Evaluation and Training: Operational testing, evaluation and training for drone and counter-drone technologies.

  5. Innovation and Experimentation: Emerging technologies, prototypes and solutions requiring further development or experimentation.

Together, these streams cover the full lifecycle of an uncrewed capability. TerraSense’s acceptance across all five reflects the breadth of its technology portfolio and expertise in developing platform-agnostic solutions that integrate with existing systems and operate at the edge, including in bandwidth-constrained and contested environments.

The first intake attracted 527 companies and more than 1,000 bids. Acceptance into the Marketplace does not guarantee a contract, but allows TerraSense to compete for future testing, prototype development, acquisition and production opportunities.
